Alkagesta has received the EcoVadis Committed Badge, according to a statement published by Alkagesta Newsroom. The commodities trader described the award as recognition of its commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices across its global trading operations. It presented the badge as part of its wider environmental, social and governance commitments and as a basis for further work on the business practices covered by the assessment.
The company’s announcement said EcoVadis evaluates businesses under four headings: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. It described the assessment as evidence-based, examining companies’ policies, reporting and transparency against internationally recognised sustainability standards. According to Alkagesta Newsroom, the badge reflects the trader’s performance against those criteria, while the assessment offers a framework through which it can continue to improve its practices.
Alkagesta linked the recognition to other elements of its sustainability programme. These include ISCC and CORSIA certification for sustainable aviation fuel trading, as well as access to EU ETS allowances. The company also cited continuing investment in environmental research initiatives, naming the Clean Caspian startup as an example. Those activities were presented alongside the EcoVadis recognition in the statement, which outlined the company’s broader approach rather than focusing solely on the badge.
Chief executive Orkhan Rustamov said the award reflected efforts to make responsible business practices part of Alkagesta’s everyday operations, rather than treating them as a separate agenda. He linked that approach to the company’s role in trading commodities central to the global economy and emphasised integrity and transparency in the way it operates. Rustamov characterised the recognition as a foundation for further progress, saying Alkagesta intended to keep improving its standards across the areas measured by EcoVadis. His comments positioned the badge as a step in that process, rather than its endpoint.
