Alkagesta took part in the 2026 Argus Fertilizer Caspian, Black Sea and Eastern European Markets Conference in Istanbul, where discussions focused on developing export markets, changes in trade routes and cooperation across regional fertiliser markets. According to Alkagesta Newsroom, the Argus Media-organised gathering attracted more than 450 participants representing over 250 companies from 45 countries.

The company’s delegation comprised Fertilizer Desk Lead Vusal Muradov, Fertilizer Trader Tural Sabirzade and Mustafa Yigit Shen from its operations function. Over the two-day programme, they met traders, producers, logistics businesses and market intelligence specialists, the company said. The event covered markets across the Caspian region, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, bringing together participants from production, trading and services supporting the fertiliser supply chain.

In its account of the conference, Alkagesta described a global fertiliser market facing significant complexity, with disruption along important shipping corridors highlighting vulnerabilities in supply chains designed primarily around efficiency rather than resilience. The company argued that the return of physical supply movements after disruption takes time, rather than occurring in a single step. Its report framed those pressures as part of the backdrop to the Istanbul discussions on trade flows and cooperation.

Alkagesta said its fertiliser desk handles nitrogen, phosphate and speciality products, drawing on international supply sources and directing those volumes towards markets supported by strong agricultural fundamentals. It identified Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and emerging agricultural markets as areas where it seeks to develop lasting supply relationships. The company presented that approach alongside its account of engagement with market participants at the conference.

Separately, Alkagesta Newsroom reported that the company had recently secured access to the Argus Open Markets window for European biodiesel, HVO and UCO. Alkagesta characterised the move as an expansion of its involvement in Argus price assessment processes beyond a single commodity segment.
